Canon Camera Connect App Reviews

Garbage

This app is complete and utter garbage. At least the last app worked. This app doesnt even maintain a connection. I connect to the wi-if on my camera and then switch to the app and it promptly drops the connection. I dont understand the point in this app when the last one worked. The wi-if connection has never been great, but it worked. You people need to fix this crap. Why bother making a wi-if camera if you cant be bothered to make an app that works? Why cant you establish a wireless connection within the app instead of having to go back and forth? Why cant you set the password in the camera so that more than one device ( my phone and iPad) can connect?

Used to work perfectly, now useless!

The app is a great time saver when working correctly, but it doesnt work properly. Terrible that canon doesnt update the app or read their customer reviews. Maybe I should switch to Sony camera

Nice update

User interface seems nicer with better controls.

Works Perfect

I use this app with my iPhone 6plus and iPad Air, using my Canon 720HS, T6, and 70D. All connect perfectly. Remote shooting is lag free. Once you have made your initial setup, subsequent connections are easy. This App works great for me!

App is crippled and inconsistent

Canons Camera Connect has some very useful functionality, but is often more frustrating due to limitations and inconsistent features built into the app. First, I love the ability to shoot a remote EOS camera thats connected via the app on my iPhone. However, shooting remote cameras is limited to JPG files with the mid-grade "Fine" comppression. Even if the camera is set to shoot RAW (CR2) only, there will only be a JPG file on the memory card when remote shooting is used. Second, on my G7X I can connect to the same WIFI network the camera creates each time it is initiated. So once I activate WIFI on the G7X, my phone auto connects without any input my part. Great! However, on my 80D, each time WIFI is started, it produces a different network name and passcode, so I have to enter the network details each-and-every-time I want to connect. Not great!

Garbage

This app is not working at all. Tried to connect my 6D and my 70D with my iphone or ipad it is completly useless.

Its broken

Simply does not work. Not able to connect phone to camera. I want this to be fixed or I want a refund for the canon 80d.

Never connects. Sorry, useless.

Use the old app. Painful but at least you can transfer photos to your phone and remote control your camera. Ehhhhh.

Simply doesnt work

Plain and simple, this app will not let you connect to your camera. Period. It doesnt work at all, ever. Complete failure.

Dont Update!!!!!

This last update has broken the app. App will not connect to camera. Please fix this!

Doesnt work

Made several attempts to use this app and it wont load my pictures to the device. Ive deleted the app and reloaded with the same result. I continue to use Canon Camera Window which works perfectly fine for my needs.

App issues

Please fix this version of the app. I have had issues connecting to the app on my iPad in the past and then it resolved. For the last two weeks I cannot connect to the app and I know it is not my wifi. Please fix this asap!

GARBAGE

Really? I literally have so many problems with this camera and I payed $800 and it cant even have a wifi connection. I cant even share my pictures or videos with anyone. It used to work. Shame on you Canon. This is literate garbage now that it doesnt even work.

Wonderful

Ive been a loyal Canon customer my whole life but Im new to the wifi feature. I just bought the Canon XS720 HS for a smaller portable pocket size travel camera that takes awesome pics rather than rely on toting around my bulky Rebel EOS, or take crappy iPhone pics just so I can share on social media. Now I have the best of both worlds. Once I got it set up, the wifi is fast and I can choose only my fav pics to upload to my iPhone for sharing. Plus Ive tested a couple different wifi spots switching between home and using the cameras wifi login/pw and it was easy, both work great. Plus it remembers!! I expect to be able to log in to different wifis while traveling and have it work similarly. I was initially worried about the Camera Connect feature after reading the reviews but I have found the secret!!! The secret is reading and trying everything!! In the reviews people cite all different canon cameras which make it confusing and the camera instructions in the box are woefully useless - not helpful at all! The trick is to watch several YouTube videos on how to set up the wifi on your camera, then play around with the camera in different hot spots. The camera is very forgiving if you need to keep trying new things. Be patient. Like I said above, its fast, remembers, once you figure it out, its a breeze! Enjoy.

Almost perfect

its a great app and works very well except for the fact that you cant send videos from your camera to your iPhone...thats a function that I have needed for a while and would love to see in the next update

Terrible

I cant even open the app! Every time I try to open the app it takes me back to my homepage in a second.

Problems

I cant get this app to work. Its awful.

Cannon Connect App

This app created errors on my pictures that were on my memory card .

Canon, you need to step up and give this app REAL remote shooting abilities!

Surprised and dismayed at how limited the remote shooting is! It can zoom and snap a photo, but thats really about it! Theres no exposure control, no interval shooting, and no video capture! What adds to user consternation is that Canon nowhere describes what can and cant be done. Surprisingly, the old tethered Remote Capture was leaps and bounds ahead of this app. While it, too, couldnt do video, it had the full panoply of controls-- change modes, set aperture, set shutter speed, change exposure, set white balance, zoom, choose macro focus, change metering and focusing area, etc. This is a pale copy of that program and its disappointing. It fails to match the quality of Canons cameras. For those interested in remote shooting, such as for fashion, wild life, or astronomy, the app is a big fail. I would urge Canon to revamp and upgrade this app greatly. Modern cameras deserve modern apps. Other companies, such as Panasonic, do a much better job in the app world. -------------------------------------- In the plus column, unlike many others, had no problems with making wifi connections (was using an iPad Air 2).

When it works, its just ok

It takes 5-6 tries to connect, if at all. And its called "connect." If it decides to connect, you cant use video. Why? No reason. You can dial up all the settings if it works. When it does, its great. The GoPro app works great now. And youre Canon! Have some self respect and pride. You know this is weak at best. Want it to work great? Hire me. Im not an engineer or a techie, rather, Im a user. And Im using something with the Canon name on it that frustrates me beyond all frustration. Nobody thinks this is good - and most folks would even pay to connect their expensive camera to their pricey pocket computer in a robust way. Its possible. You know this already. Contact me. Ill create something with you that energizes your brand and your users when they connect to their amazing canon app ...that does not yet exist.
